“Frostmorne”
Undead Frost giant
Role: Boss (Campaign 2) | Type: Undead Giant
Software:
[ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter]
Character Overview: Frostmorne is a formidable boss encountered in the second campaign. As an Undead Frost Giant, he serves as a twisted reflection of the standard Frost Giants, requiring a design that feels both familiar and distinctly horrifying.
This character was an exercise in smart asset reuse and efficient production pipelines.
Shared Topology: To save production time and texture memory, Frostmorne shares the underlying mesh and rig (skinning) of the standard Frost Giant enemy.
Differentiation: The challenge was making him look unique despite the shared assets. I achieved this primarily through texture and material work, swapping healthy flesh for necrotic skin, adding ice crystallisation, and exposing bone elements.
Visual Storytelling: Through texture painting, I emphasized his "hard-to-beat" status by adding battle damage and weathering, visually suggesting he is an ancient veteran who refuses to die.
